Director of EMI MENA

One of the clear lessons we have learned over the 10 years EMI in the Middle East / North Africa region is that developing local leaders is key to our sustainability and impact.

Over the past year, as we have adjusted to an increased difficulty for short-term expatriate involvement on projects, our local staff have really stepped up.

They have developed and strengthened relationships with local ministry leaders & design professionals and they have grown as team contributors and project managers.

It is a joy to see our staff grow in their spiritual and professional leadership and influence.

We’re excited to see more local professionals catch the vision of bringing glory to God through quality design and loving service.

Helen and I have been praying about the possibility of joining staff at EMI since we visited EMI Costa Rica back in 2012, ahead of volunteering for a project in Honduras.

Six years later, we felt God calling us to step out in faith and look more closely at EMI. Following a further project trip and then a family holiday in Nicaragua, we were ready to take the plunge and apply.

We have been taken aback by the incredible support that we’ve received from our sending church, friends, and family through what has been a difficult year. Now, we are excited to be just a couple months away from starting Spanish school.

Psalm 24 has been a recurring passage for our family, including during a memorable sermon in a Nicaraguan church back in 2012! And it speaks to the moment we find ourselves in now as we recognise God as our King and invite Him to lead us.

The Quails are one of a dozen staff on-boarding with EMI around the world in 2021. We thank God for calling these people into ministry at EMI, and we thank you for giving to make that possible. emiworld.org/give

Moses grew up in a village in Cameroun in francophone West Africa. His parents are missionaries to his native Fulani tribe. Moses’ heart is in Africa and he was always sure God would call him back. Having studied Construction Management in the USA, Moses volunteered on many missions trips back to Africa to confirm this calling.

Moses was offered the opportunity to join the EMI Senegal team and help launch a Construction Management programme. He happily accepted and moved in 2019 full of faith that God would do amazing things.

Three weeks after landing in Senegal, he met a woman working as a teacher. Megan’s first impression of Moses during an EMI project trip was that he was ‘quiet and boring.’ But over the next several months of their relationship, her perspective changed. Moses & Megan will be married in Senegal on the 19th of March!

Join Moses on EMI’s Construction Management Staff—there are full-time opportunities in India, Uganda, and Cambodia.
