A Dorm Wrapped Inside a Church

core-values

EMI is a Christian nonprofit organization founded on the idea that architects, engineers, and design & construction professionals have an important part to play in world missions: We design and build projects that bring hope to communities around the world.

“People restored by God and the world restored through design.”

Since 1982, our worldwide mission is to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities which serve communities and the Church—facilities like hospitals, schools, water systems, and more.

Together, we are designing a world of hope.

President Emeritus

In my focus on future challenges, my natural inclination is to forget all the incredible things the Lord has done for us.

I felt this in my recent visit to the Cambodia office. In just 8 years, the Lord has grown the office to nearly 50 people, serving ministries all over Asia and discipling local staff to be grounded followers of Jesus!

May we remember all the wonders the Lord has provided, and may it give us confidence as we face the new challenges to come. 1 Chronicles 16:12

My journey with EMI began right after college when I interned in Guatemala. God used that time to shape my faith, my professional skills, my view of the world and to give me a love for EMI that has continued for 25 years!

Serving in the Uganda office as a project leader, it was such a joy to see ministries empowered and to use my skills as an engineer for God’s Glory. Now in the US office, I am privileged to care for people in mobilization and discipleship. I am grateful to see how God is continuing to grow and expand EMI—raising up young people through our Fellowship Programme and engaging with communities in new and deeper ways.

I joined EMI a year ago, and it has been a season of significant learning and growth. I have had the privilege of working alongside professionals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and faith experiences, which has enriched me both personally and spiritually.

One of the EMI values that has impacted me the most is diversity. Through it, I have gained a deeper understanding of the unity of the Body of Christ, the richness of the gifts the Holy Spirit gives to each believer, and how, despite our differences, we can encourage and build one another up.

This has been a truly rewarding experience. What excites me most about EMI future is the opportunity to serve more ministries and local professionals, sharing the message of Jesus Christ.
