Bringing IRIS Dakar a step closer to reality

core-values

EMI is a Christian non-profit made up of architects, engineers, surveyors, and construction managers who value Design, Discipleship, and Diversity.

“People restored by God and the world restored through design.”

Since 1982, our worldwide mission is to develop people, design structures, and construct facilities which serve communities and the Church—facilities like hospitals, schools, water systems, and more.

Together, we are designing a world of hope.

Whether we realize it or not, our lives are built on trust. It requires trust to sleep soundly through the night in an engineered pile of rocks—all the more when those rocks are tormented by earthquakes, floods, or, worst of all: negligence.

Authentic and lasting relationships also require trust and may fail in its absence. Greater still is our need for trust in God, in His goodness and providence, and that His ways are best.

In India, we strive to follow God with wholehearted integrity. We trust He will use our efforts to foster unity, to navigate the maze of challenges we face, and to care for both our neighbour and the environment.

A New Home for EMI!

We celebrate the new 2-acre campus for EMI in Colorado Springs! Early next year, the 10,000 square-foot office building will be the new home for the EMI USA and Global teams.

Pray for Haiti

The efforts of EMI and many other organizations continue to be stalled by the chaos and instability in Haiti. Pray for a turning point and that God would make a way for those who wish to build and restore.

Leadership Training in Spain

After a long Covid wait, 15 EMI leaders from the leadership training cohort were finally able to gather in person in Spain! After so many virtual meeting hours, the time together in person was invaluable.

Next April we will celebrate our 6th anniversary and Baher’s 8th year with EMI.

We have always been praying for God to show us ways in which He wants to use our small family to bring Glory to His name.

Earlier in 2021, the answer came through an invitation from EMI to join the Mexico launch team in Ensenada.

After visiting Ensenada in 2018, we felt so connected to the country and the people so we immediately felt God tugging on our hearts to move away from our comfort zone.

He is leading us to invest in EMI’s ministry in Mexico—a ministry we know is needed in the community and could impact many lives in that region of Latin America.

We hope to make the move and begin our ministry there by mid-2022.

Towards the end of my Aerospace Engineering degree, I desired to give back my schooling to God—give Him my first fruits.

EMI looked promising, but I wasn’t in the building or construction field. However, I found a home at R&D: A home for the mismatched of the engineering world who want to serve God at EMI, but can’t on traditional EMI projects.

At R&D, we get the blessing to support our brothers and sisters in EMI, answering questions and working on unique projects, such as a solar kiln.

We’re designing a solar kiln for the Workshop to store and dry out wet wood—see the test samples of different native species on my desk. I loved tackling the multidisciplinary challenges of this project, especially learning with and from other brothers in Christ.

Together we’re building a home at R&D to serve God with our unique gifts.

The EMI Fund

Give to build a strong foundation at EMI. Together we will design a world of hope.
