EMI’s design staff and project teams support Christian charities around the world. Behind the scenes, finance & admin staff like Paul and Edith Brooks help make it all happen.

EMI UK Director Dave Lambert says,

“Paul’s diligence, patience, and calm commitment to God working in EMI is a huge blessing to us all.

For many years, he combined the role with finance work for Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) in various places around the world, and more recently as front-line retail staff supplying food during lockdown in the UK.

Edith gave up her part-time EMI role in December 2019 to work full-time with the NHS hospital maternity department, prior to the COVID crisis.

We are so grateful to them both for their work in the community and service to EMI.

Paul and Edith have two teenage children, John Luke and Gabriella, and are part of their local church in Ashford Kent.”

The EMI Uganda team recently completed an important project on the outskirts of Kampala for orphaned children with special needs.

The mission of the GEM Foundation is to advocate and care for these children. They are truly a one-of-a-kind family in Uganda, with exemplary staff and a huge heart.

EMI Uganda partnered with GEM in long-range planning, architectural and engineering design, and construction supervision for their very own 89-acre campus outside Kampala. The first phase consisted of three children’s homes and an outpatient clinic.

Designed for accessibility, each home contains a play area, three children’s bedrooms, three washrooms (each with a bathtub, seated toilet and hand-wash basin), one caretaker’s bedroom, a laundry room and a kitchen. A ceiling-mounted track hoist system enables easy movement of children from bedroom to washroom.

After occupying inaccessible rented facilities in the city for six years, the GEM team are thrilled to occupy their very own accessible, private, and beautiful new facility!
